Krystal is a certified Speech Level Singing (SLS) instructor. She started her music career at the age of 8 and has performed extensively as a lead singer and background vocalist for both live shows and studio recordings. Her voice has been featured in numerous television commercials aired all over Asia and she can be heard singing lead vocals for one of the theme songs for the 3D-animated TV series “Electroboy” (English version). She has also been invited to perform at special events and charity fundraising functions for organisations such as Community Chest, the Organisation for Oncology and Translational Research and Habitat for Humanity. Krystal is also a freelance songwriter and has written songs in collaboration with other musicians for television commercials for companies such as Cathay Pacific, Sun Hung Kai Properties, China Light and Power, Canon, to name but a few.
She has been personally trained as a vocal instructor by one of Hong Kong’s most sought-after vocal coaches and performers, Christine Samson, as well as SLS Master Teachers Dean Kaelin, Jeffrey Skouson and Spencer Welsh. Her students come from all walks of life and range in age from 3 years old to 60+. Most recently, she was hired as a vocal consultant to lead vocal warm up sessions for EEG mega star Joey Yung during her Nokia No. 6 concert series at the Hong Kong Coliseum.

Krystal teaches fluently in both English and Cantonese and is familiar with a wide range of music genres, including Jazz, Pop, Rock, Country, R&B, Opera and Musical Theatre. Aside from English, Cantonese and Mandarin songs, she also has experience teaching songs that are in Spanish, Japanese and Korean.
In 2011, Krystal was also selected to be one of the three featured vocal coaches on TVB's "The Voice" Season 3 (Hong Kong's equivalent of American Idol).
Out of the 6 students she was assigned to train, five students made it to the Top 8, and four made it to the Top 6 Finalists round. Both 1st and 3rd place winners were also students of Krystal (Jerry Liu 廖仲謙 and Kayee Tam譚嘉儀, respectively). Kayee also took home the awards for Best Improvement and Best Song Performance, while 1st place winner, Jerry, received the highest points ever awarded to a contestant in the history of the show.

What Her Students Say:
"I have heard of voice training before, and I always thought of it as 'for people with gifted voice only'. In my head, it was just practice sessions and nothing to do with development. After I met Krystal and learnt that what I had was misinformation, I decided to give it a try. In the beginning I did not expect much and thought I would hit a brick wall after a minor improvement. Boy, I was wrong! After the first 5-6 weeks at one session per week, I could already notice considerable changes without any reminders. Now in my 11th month, crossing a bridge doesn't sound like a speaker going into distortion and my current singing feels like I am a totally different person from what I was 11 months ago. What I like even more than the improvement is that the sessions run at a pace to suit my comfort level. If you are a decently persistent person with some interest in singing (or better yet, with passion), I strongly recommend the class. You would be surprised to see your actual potentials.” - Jeremy.Y, Hong Kong
“Throughout my SLS lessons with Krystal, I learned more than I could ever imagine. It was the first one-on-one singing experience I've ever had and I was fortunate that I had such a knowledgeable teacher. At the beginning I struggled with some of the concepts that were taught, and even if I did understand them, it was sometimes difficult to actually apply them. However, as more lessons went by, I realized that I was grasping the exercises with more ease. I could also tell that my singing range had shot up by a long range, which is something I had always hoped for. My voice and the way I sing are different now, and even my friends are amazed at the changes. SLS lessons have made a big impact on my life, and it is something that I hope I can continue.” - Carina T, Vancouver, Canada
“Krystal is an excellent SLS teacher that I would recommend to anyone that wants to improve their singing skills. She was able to identify all the problems and bad singing habits I had developed over the years in the very first lesson. And the customized exercises she gave me did help me tackle my singing problems effectively. One of my biggest concern over the years was that I could not expand my range. But after a couple of lessons with Krystal, she had introduced me ways to "cross the bridges". I was able to hit an octave higher after the lessons. Krystal is very creative in how she explains hard-to-grasp concepts. But what makes her an excellent teacher is her positive attitude that makes her students feel encouraged even when they make mistakes. Krystal has done a great job in creating an environment that is constructive for learning.” – Elain Tung, Hong Kong
"Krystal was able to find where I had problems in my singing techniques, how to improve them, how to not do my bad habits and cover all that with new techniques. Over a short period of time, I was able to not only sing better, but enjoy what I loved to do even more so than before. She was able to help increase my range, techniques in singing, and improve my pronunciation of words during songs. In very visual ways, she allowed us to see things that we were not able to see before and understand them. With different students, she used different ways of teaching that was suitable to us and did not have anyone felt left out. Krystal is a great teacher and I will definitely recommend to you." - Julian Hui, Hong Kong
"I have thoroughly enjoyed my year of SLS singing lessons and recording with Krystal. From the first lesson to Krystal's displayed attention to detail, patience and genuine interest in my voice. We worked on my strengthening the break and overall tone of my voice. Krystal has been a knowledgeable mentor during my vocal lessons and in preparation for outside recording and performing projects. Her experience and background in composition, recording and performance were always helpful and on point. I found Krystal's lessons and the studio an open friendly working environment. I would definitely recommend her to any performer needing vocal training whilst in Hong kong . From Krystal's guidance and vocal coaching the change in my voice has given me the confidence to keep pursuing and building myself as a singer / songwriter . - Joanne yokittyjo.com, Australia, & Hong Kong

Weisan taught singing and music theory for over 5 years in London before moving to Hong Kong at the end of 2011. Her own vocal training began in Northern Ireland where she was born and raised, and continued onto West London in 2003 where she earned her Bachelor of Music degree at the London College of Music. She has taught voice and music theory at several schools and training centres around London, including Islington Arts and Music School, Notting Hill and Ealing Girls School, the Academy of Sound and Music, and Bromley Vocal Tuition.
Aside from being a voice and music instructor, Weisan is also a skilled songwriter and performer. She was a backing vocalist for Alternative Motown band 'National Snack', and lead singer in various function bands. She also recently put together her own band, performing original material written by herself.
Weisan has been a featured performer at The Royal College of Art, The French Festival 'Fete De La Musique' and at the Sadlers Wells Theatre. She was also a guest performer on BBC Radio One's "Evening Sessions". She recently recorded and self-released her debut E.P. 'Thank You', working with producer Mike Westergaard (The Blessing, Dragon's Den, Dr Who) along with a string of musicians who between them have worked with Boyzone, Jason Donavan, Rolf Harris and Jessie J.
Weisan thrives on new challenges and musical situations, and combines experience and a professional attitude with an easy-going and friendly nature to her vocal classes.
What Her Students Say:
"Thank you for all your help in finding my singing voice, controlling it and then allowing it and me to be natural with it. I finally like my singing voice!" Michael, London
"Weisan has created a really relaxed environment where I have felt comfortable to learn the technique and improve. My range has increased and my confidence has grown enormously. This would not have been possible without Weisan helping me to feel comfortable enough to make mistakes and improve. She’s been invaluable at showing me that I can do more than I think, and has given me the self belief to pursue a career in singing. Thanks for everything Weisan!" Jenni, London
"My daughter Ellie has been having private lessons with Weisan and I can honestly say that Ellie has made considerable progress in her singing. On the first lesson that Ellie had, she noticed that her throat was clear and unblocked and it made singing so much easier. Her range has increased and her technique has improved so, so much. Weisan is kind, considerate and extremely helpful. Her teaching methods are amazing and has made Ellie feel at ease at every lesson. Weisan has always helped Ellie with song choices that suit Ellie's voice and range and Ellie has enjoyed experimenting with songs that she would not normally attempt. Her confidence has increased considerably and she has so much faith in Weisan. Our experience with Weisan has been invaluable." Jayne, London
"What can Weisan do for a 30-something woman who has always sung behind closed doors and has no musical training? She immediately diagnosed me as a "chest puller" who needs to learn a smooth transition between low notes and high ones. The first half of each lesson was spent taking this secret singer through exercises to relax my voice and retrain my jaw. Then we would focus on a song and had fun with some Adele and Sheryl Crow. She advised I record each session and practise before our next meeting. Listening back to these demonstrates the improvement she has guided. Lucky Hong Kong to have Weisan. She's a friendly teacher who is genuinely interested in helping her students to progress regardless of their age or experience." - Joanna, London
